FAVA is dedicated to having our exhibitions free and open to the community. During the school semester, we are able to staff our galleries and events with student workers to keep exhibitions open on the weekend. During the summer months, however, we rely on community members like you to help us continue to keep our doors open to locals and visitors on the weekends.

We are looking for weekend gallery docents throughout the summer during the run of FAVA’s National Biennial Juried Exhibitions, and event assistance for our upcoming Fundraisers, Art Camp, Chalk Walk, FAVA’s Annual Fair in the Square, and FAVA’s Fall Fest & Open House.

What does a docent do? As a docent you would primarily be responsible for opening and closing the building, monitoring the gallery, answering questions any visitors might have, directing visitors to any resources we have available, and recording the count of visitors. We typically like to have two volunteers for each day so that you won’t be working alone. All docents volunteers receive special instruction with our staff before their first shift!

If you or someone you know are interested in lending us a helping hand please complete the Volunteer Sign-Up Form below and express your interest! If you have any additional questions, please let us know. We look forward to working with you over the course of the summer!

Many Thanks,

FAVA Staff
