Unraveled Histories
Unraveled Histories is a yarn and fiber-based exhibition that highlights the identity, memory, and stories of marginalized women and POC communities found within the textile practices they used to document their lives and experiences. This exhibition focuses on the cultural role of textile practices like knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and weaving as both an artistic practice and a historical asset. This exhibition joins together artists using textile practices to tell stories in order to challenge the binary of “fine art” and “craft”. Fiber arts has long since been a movement of storytelling and community, legacies passed down from one generation to the next. Through elevating these practices and works, this exhibition affirms the visibility and respect those voices deserve.
