BILL PAPPAS
Artist Statement :

The “Scenes and Faces that give us pause…” are daily occurrences if we just take the time to be aware. Travel to different places seems to enhance our sensibilities, but we need look no further than our own surroundings for wonder and inspiration! The large scenic photographs in the exhibit were mostly done in and around the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, while the portraits include some newer and some older images. 

Biography:

After studying philosophy in the seminary, Bill Pappas graduated from John  Carroll University with a B.S. in Chemistry. A love of photography led to a 37-year career as a commercial advertising photographer heading his own studio in downtown Cleveland. His fine art work features studies of people from a visually enhanced perspective, as  well as  scenic vignettes from a wide variety of domestic and  international locations.

Bill’s images have been exhibited in the  Cleveland Museum of Art May Show, The New York Art Director’s One Show,  the  International Graphis Press publication “Photographis,” Spaces  Gallery, the Gates Mills juried shows, The Cleveland Society of  Communicating Arts, The Butler Institute of American Art,  The Center for Fine  Art Photography in Colorado, and the Telfair Museum in Savannah,  Georgia. Bill is a member of the Artists Archives of the Western  Reserve, the Valley Art Center, the Cleveland Print Room, and Friends of  Photography at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Bill’s work is represented  in many private and permanent collections, including the Cuyahoga  County Administration Building, Cleveland Hopkins International  Airport, the Lake County Administration Building, the Cleveland  Orchestra, and the Cleveland Clinic.
